Cusco, Peru – After going without for more than seven weeks, I finally have a functioning 300mm zoom lens once again. And just in time for Machu Picchu. 🙂 This was taken a few blocks from my hotel here in Cusco. The steepness is pretty much on par with the climb needed to reach my hotel.
My old lens — a Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 — was diagnosed as beyond repair in Santiago more than a month ago, and I’ve been on the lookout for a replacement since. Luck struck here yesterday when I found the same model in the last of some 20 camera shops I checked. And the price was quite reasonable all things considered.
I’m heading towards Machu Picchu this morning; the working plan for the next two days includes arriving at the Incan citadel just in time for Tuesday’s sunrise.
