Escaping the Sun (Pic du Jour)

Puerto Lopez 002

The closer I get to the equator the more I realize that the only sensible thing to do in the middle of day is to somehow escape from the midday heat.

Escape is this week’s WordPress Photo Challenge theme, which is exactly what I did after snapping this gentleman’s photo.

Puerto Lopez, Ecuador, or 1°34′00″ South

The line here is between Jama and Pedernales, and someone can drive us up there.. It’s just a ‘blink’ in the road – no bells and whistles… those attractions are in Quito and Cayambe (near Otavalo)

Aww. I’m from the Philippines (pretty close to the equator) and you are spot-on when our national hero Jose Rizal defended our love for naps by saying it’s the heat! A unique but very familiar take on the challenge. An escape indeed. 🙂

Anyone who defends the people’s right to nap is a hero to me as well! 🙂
