This is what you’ll find at the terminus of the Enchanted Forest Trail in Queulat National Park in Chilean Patagonia: a pristine ice-fed lagoon that is the source of the Cascada River, an area of such sublime beauty that it continues to inspire recurring dreams. And I didn’t even know it was there until the cloud that shrouded it lifted about a half hour earlier.
This week’s WordPress Photo Challenge asked for something grand, a scene’s ‘wow factor’. When this scene emerged from behind a veil of fog, ‘wow’ was the only word that I managed. Then just silence.
The park is on the Carretera Austral, a highway that traverses Chile’s southern Patagonian reaches, near Puyuhuapi. A more detailed post on the aptly named trail coming soon.
