Plaza San Blas, Quito

I’m slowly making progress with some 1,800 images taken in Quito, Ecuador, last year and decided to take a break with this one for today’s Pic du Jour, the 125th (!) straight. Looks exhilarating, doesn’t it?

This was taken nearly one year ago and I can still vividly remember the boy’s reaction –certainly the widest smile I’d seen that day– when his father told him it was ok to run through the fountain.

This is just across the street from the Plaza San Blas where I was based for a week near the heart of the Ecuadoran capital’s historical center.
