Genzebe Dibaba in Doha

More specifically, the Ethiopian middle distance runner’s hands.

Today’s Pic du Jour, the 128th (!) straight, was snapped while Dibaba, who smashed two world indoor records last winter, was fielding questions at a press conference ahead of the Doha Diamond League track and field meet in Qatar a few weeks ago. Another shot, a more traditional if candid portrait, is here. Thoughts?

  1. Hi Bob – I don’t comment much these days but since you asked, I like this shot. I see a young woman whose nervous tension is channelled and controlled, very precise and making time for (some) things beyond her training and fitness regime – the femininity and vulnerability were very touching. How did she go?

  2. I love this picture. Crisp and simple but says so much about the person. Like the other commentor said you can sense the tension and nervousness without seeing the person.
