On the Bus III

I enjoy snapping people through bus windows. I’ve been on the other end of the lens plenty of times, so I know I’m not the only one. One of my favorites is this one taken seven years and a few weeks ago in Belgrade.

The tone is different in today’s Pic du Jour, the 144th straight, but it too has air of mystery to it that I enjoyed. What do you think about when you stare out of a bus window?

Public transport (from within or without) is wonderful subject matter – I can only clearly see a few faces through the windows of the passing bus, but I’m reading many more stories from them.

It’s a great form of entertainment, isn’t it? Wondering what’s going through their minds.

I always wonder about the stories of the people that catch my eye. There’s a website, Humans of New York, that I follow pretty regularly, that gives a glimpse into the lives of the people who are photographed. In the same way, I wonder what it is that may define a person or about some transformative experience they had. Everyone has a story…you never know who passes us by.

And, using public transportation is a great way to be a traveler and not a tourist….you begin to feel the city’s pulse.

I’m always on buses – when I’m not on my bike. And have had my picture taken, too. I hope they weren’t reading my mind. 🙂

I often think the same but have never taken any shots, it is a fascinating insight into a city by studying those on public transport!!
