View From a Room – Ostrava

Today’s Pic du Jour, the 155th (!) straight, is this early evening view taken Saturday from my third floor room at the Clarion Congress Hotel in the eastern Czech city of Ostrava, the country’s third largest. Home for four nights.

48 second exposure at f22, 18mm, 100 ISO, with an eight stop ND filter.

And entirely unrelated – on this day from the Piran Café archive:

2012 – When I was overcome with the inability to control my Peeping Tom fetish (an innocent one, promise). A submission for a photo challenge on the theme of Close. As in nearby.
2011 – So I took my new Fat Gecko Handlebar Camera Mount out for a test. What better way than by condensing a 40min bike ride into just over 5 and throwing in a fantastic soundtrack? A pretty decent high-speed tour of Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital.
2007 – A concise (and now probably somewhat dated) 30-Second Oslo Advisor.

I absolutely love this photo. When I saw it I thought it might be Poland. It reminds me of the films Dekalog which I adore. That sky is amazing.

Amazing sky–nicely shot. It’s quite a feat to make a photo of the old Communist buildings of the Czech Republic so stunningly beautiful.
