Non-smoking monk, Bangkok

Non-smoking monk, Bangkok

I like to tell people that I once dropped into Bangkok just long enough to enjoy an exquisite lunch. That’s not entirely true; my 10 hours on the ground in the Thai capital –six of those in the massive city’s center– also included a relaxing visit to Lumphini Park and a stroll along the busy Petchaburi Road where I saw this monk, the subject of the 194th straight (!) Pic du Jour, passing on tobacco’s temptation. Good for him. I didn’t quit until a year later. 🙂

We were in Lumphini Park a couple of weeks ago, but didn’t see any monks! There were several visiting the Grand Palace though, all taking photos with the latest i-phones. They’re not so different after all! 🙂
