Dragons and Virgins in Ljubljana

Intimidated? One of four dragons on Ljubljana's Dragon Bridge.

This is one of four protectors of Ljubljana’s Dragon Bridge, among the most photographed objects in the Slovenian capital. According to local legend, one of the dragons that sit at opposite ends of the span will wag its tail when a virgin crosses. To date no waggings have been recorded, adding to Ljubljana’s popularity and allure.

A few more previous shots and a brief video, shot under brilliantly colored late afternoon skies, are here.

Today’s Pic du Jour, the 233rd (!!) straight was taken on 13 June 2012, on a day that was similarly wet and gray as today. A few more shots from around Ljubljana’s old town center shot that day are here. Check ’em out, the colors were sensational!
