This week’s addition to the largest repository of blighted mannequins on the planet? Just your standard sexually ambiguous Karate Kid with a cracked skull, chipped nose and tight taped down decorated braids found in a little shop near the southern reaches of Calle Guayaquil in Quito’s historical center.
The shop owner was a little puzzled by my interest –who can blame her?– but ultimately entertained by my methodical approach to snapping this figure from every angle. Trying to explain the depth of field limitations of my smartphone’s camera was well outside the painfully narrow confines of my grasp of Spanish, so I just encouraged her laugh at me. It comes naturally to most people anyway and it beat being outside in the pouring rain.
New to this weekly series? Really? Then you can and should catch up here. It’ll make your Monday 45% better than the last one, and gleefully remind you of the promise that comes with the start of a new week. I promise. Enjoy, share and do spread the word.
By the way, this image also serves as today’s Pic du Jour, the 462nd (!!) straight. When you’ve got a few minutes to spare, you can browse some of those here. Enjoy!
