On the Way Home, Candelaria, Bogotá

I was on my way home when I crossed paths with this gentleman on his way home, too.

So caught up in his own thoughts, he didn’t notice me across the narrow street, the two teenagers who began a little scuffle just behind him, or the two police officers jogging across the street to exchange a few choice words with the two kids, neither of whom really had their hearts in the fight. Just onward, at a deliberate pace, head bent slightly down.

The building in the background? The late 17the century Iglesia de la Candelaria which gives this area of Bogotá its name, and adds an unmistakable pastel hue to the corner of Calle 11 and Carrera 4.

Today’s Pic du Jour, the 501st straight on the blog, was snapped on 26 May 2015, and works reasonably well for this week’s WordPress Photo Challenge theme, On the Way.

Decades of memories under that hat. I’d love to hear some of his stories. You’ve captured a whole world in one shot.
