“Aquas”, the title track from the Ecuadorian act Quixosis’s latest EP, is an interesting journey home. From the song’s virtual liner notes:
Made in Quito, Ecuador, Aguas represents a return to the roots for Quixosis who recently left the California Drought, literal and figurative, in search of water to quench thirst, and make fertile ground. This is a perpetual return home.
It’s a gentle electronic ambient vibe that I found pleasantly intoxicating, much like the Ecuadorean capital to where Quixosis returned. I enjoyed it so much I linked the entire five-song EP here. For easy access. I hope we cross paths one day.

Attention musicians, record label reps or fans: Got a suggestions for a Tune du Jour? I’d love to hear it.
Each weekday at noon Eastern Time Piran Café spotlights a new or recently released song from smaller or independent labels to our rapidly growing audience. Genre? None. So long as it’s good. Suggestions are most welcome and encouraged – do get in touch. Please include press info about the song /album /artist, and links to video, audio or both. The more info, the merrier.
CURRENT FOCUS: Since I’ll be based in Colombia through the latter half of August, I’d love to focus as much as I can during that time on new or emerging artists from South America. Obviously, exceptions will always be made. Just trying to keep it local. Thanks!
