Ljubljana Through a Fog

Today’s Pic du Jour, the blog’s 669th (!!) straight, was actually snapped this morning — just after take off from Ljubljana. That’s the Slovenian capital in the upper left corner, veiled in its typical morning fog. For the Ljubljana-curious, this view faces due south.

I’m en route to Beirut where I’ll be working with organizers of Sunday’s Beirut Marathon and also spending some time researching the refugee crisis on the ground in Syria’s tiny neighbor. By comparison, the “crisis” enveloping Europe is a drop in the proverbial bucket; between 1.5 and 2 million people who have fled war-torn Syria are, for the moment, calling Lebanon home.

More tomorrow from the Lebanese capital.

I love photos (indeed, views) like this. For me, human activity is reduced to a minimum, despite there being plenty of evidence for it on the ground, since people are too small to see at that distance. Then the horizon looks inviting, clean and full of promise! Sorry, that’s all a bit wistfull!

Needn’t be sorry :), that’s spot on. I like that interpretation.
