More specifically, in the Slovenian capital’s central Preseren Square. This was taken in December 2012 a few days after the city flicked the on switch for Ljubljana’s ‘Festive December’ light show. It’s also one of the better selling photos in my Red Bubble shop; feel free to check it out. 🙂
This year’s light show begins on Friday afternoon. December is a really nice time to visit Ljubljana; there’s the typically central European Christmas Market along the banks of the Ljubljanica River, lots of music in various squares, even more food stalls, and, my favorite, hot mulled wine available every fifth meters or so.
I’m not sure if I’ll be on-site Friday for the kick-off ceremonies, but I will be visiting almost daily, so you can expect quite a few images over the next six weeks.
If you’ll be passing through Ljubljana between Friday, 27 November and January 3, the December holiday schedule is here.
And here’s a 196-second video I pieced together a couple years ago. It’s a bit on the dark side, for which I apologize; it’s also heavy on sausages, for which I do not.
Today’s Pic du Jour, the 690th straight, was snapped on 4 December 2012 in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
