Today’s weekend portrait, the penultimate in this five-week Saturday series, was taken in a delightfully laid back bakery/café in the equally laid back Patagonian town of El Chalten. Or maybe it was a café/ bakery. No matter. The coffee, bread and pie served up by the Brazilian owner, pictured here, was fantastic. Unfortunately I forgot her name and the name of her establishment. If anyone can help with that I’d be most appreciative.

Likewise, if you’ve passed through this part of Patagonia recently, say in the past five or six months, I’d love to hear from you. I’m trying to gather some up-to-date information on the area and welcome any and all insight.

And for the record, today’s Pic du Jour, the site’s 750th (!!) straight, was snapped in El Chalten, Patagonia, Argentina, on 10 February, 2013.

  1. El Chalten is probably one of my favorite places on earth! I can’t help with super-recent info (I think I was there in early 2014), but La Cerveceria remains one of the best food and beer and warm-cozy-spot-on a-cold-night experiences of my life.

    1. Good to hear. I really enjoyed it, too. I like to think that I’ll make it back to that end of the world again. I’ve heard from a few others who have visited since and shared pretty much what I expected: that logistically many things haven’t changed too much, if at all.
