These are 11 images snapped during an hour-long bike ride yesterday afternoon in and near Ljubljana’s city center to kick of a new (almost) daily project on my personal Facebook page to help provide a glimpse of what’s happening, or will be happening, in the Slovenian capital. That’s the working plan anyway.
Much of what you’ll find in the blogosphere and travel media about Ljubljana these days focuses superficially on the pretty, and there’s plenty of that here.
But of course that’s never nearly the entire picture; here I’m hoping to add a bit more balance. Like with the lead photo which suggests that in some circles times are so tough that even the 1 Euro Stores, like this one on Celovska street about a half kilometer away from the central Tivoli Park, can’t stay open.
With very rare exceptions, these will all be mobile shots, taken with my Samsung Galaxy 4, and will span the gamut, from quick ‘slice of life’ images to simple visual notebook entries. Hopefully, on occasion, something ‘better’ will pop up.
The first weekly set, which I’ll be adding to through the end of the week (Sunday), is here.
And for the record, the lead photo serves as today’s Pic du Jour, the site’s 865th (!) straight.
