An Enthusiasm for Tree-Trimming in Paris

Here’s one way to reduce traffic on the streets of the French capital that I discovered seven years ago today: smash the roofs and rear widows of cars when trimming trees.

Observe this more-mini Mini on the Boulevard du Maine, which I spotted in the shadow of the Tour Montparnasse at about 2pm on Thursday 17 July 2009, serving eloquently as the site’s 926th straight Pic du Jour.

    Oh dear, Paris and France itself are in trouble, even from their own tree specialists.

    This reminds me of our surprise at seeing all the square pruned into squares when we were in Paris. We could only surmise there was some secret and powerful cabal of tree trimmers.
