This is the Lapataia River in Tierra del Fuego National Park, a park at the planet’s edge.
In the southeastern corner of the park lies Lapataia Bay, a body of water that extends towards the Beagle Channel which itself leads towards the Southern Ocean north of Antarctica. About as close to the planet’s edge as these these day’s mapmaker’s allow.
In case you missed it, I posted an illustrated guide to the park last February. Check it out.
Today’s Pic du Jour, the site’s 980th straight, was snapped in Tierra del Fuego, Argentina, in February 2013.
