Today’s Pic du Jour, the site’s 998th (!) straight, was actually snapped today near the Slovenian village of Jereka, about eight kilometers east of the Alpine Lake Bohinj, or 25 kilometers west of the better known Lake Bled. The horses appeared content in their alpine settings, much like just about every person I came across during our afternoon drive around this part of the Julian Alps.
I’m not entirely content with the photo, though.
Anytime I try shooting rays like this, they’re never quite true. Either the foreground shadows are too dark, or the sky and clouds too washed out. I shot this with the intention of processing in black and white, which accentuates the image’s shortcomings.
Any experiences and suggestions to improve these scenes? Would love to hear them.
