Fisherman, Revolutionary

Franc Stoka Rado, Izola, Slovenia

That’s what’s etched below this bust of Franc Štoka, a hero of the National Liberation Army, or Yugoslav Partisans, that rests in a small Adriatic seaside square in Izola, Slovenia.

I love the simplicity of the inscription —Ribič, revolucionar / Fisherman, Revolutionary.   There isn’t much online about him, other than this brief bio (in Slovene). If anyone has any insights, I’d love to hear them.
