Bohinjska Bistrica station

The Pic du Jour train theme continues.

This is at Bohinjska Bistrica station in northwestern Slovenia, where you’ll stop if you plan to visit Lake Bohinj, a much more pristine setting than the better known and more heavily-visited Lake Bled. It’s about 20km up the road/rails from Bled, and another six kilometers from the lake’s shores at the village of Ribčev Laz.

A bit more from a quiet afternoon at the station is here.

Today’s Pic du Jour, the site’s 1,096th straight, was snapped in Bohinjska Bistrica, Slovenia on 24-Sep-2012.

Shame about the hotel at Ribčev Laz that caught fire 🙁 I like the vintage feel in your capture.

Yes, that was awful news. It is as you probably know the only ‘proper’ hotel near the lake. Was glad to hear that no one was hurt.

I like the fact that it was the only hotel near the lake. I hope they will be able to restore it soon. I stayed there once a few years ago.
