Afternoon Stroll, Quito

Quito, Ecuador, 19 February 2015.

~~

I spent nearly six months in South America in 2015, three months in Quito, Ecuador, and three between Bogota and Cali, Colombia. This was one of the first photos I took upon arrival in Quito, two years ago today. Obviously, it’s taking me a while longer to sort through photos than originally planned.

Was this taken from that petite corner crow’s nest?! in some ways it seems like yesterday, and in others – wow like it was another life! sylvana’s been gone almost as long as you! some of us in jama decided today that she needs to return in time to run for mayor of jama! looks like Lenin Moreno will most likely b president with Jorge Glass as VP… Lasso was in 2nd place when I left the restaurant about an hour ago… And that’s tonight’s news update.

btw, things in Jama are pretty bleak.. so many break-your-heart stories.. I wish you were here to listen, photograph and write….

Yes, from the little balcony. It does seem almost like last week. Silvana for Mayor! There’s an idea and candidate I can firmly stand behind. Last I saw it looked like a second round might be likely, which would definitely work against Moreno. But perhaps things changed in the late hours.

I can imagine things are very difficult there and will be for some time.

Such a touching photo. I am not surprised that it is taking time to sort your shots…you probably took thousands!! I still have photos from 8 years ago, sorted but not used …yet.

Thanks — it can be overwhelming. Waiting a bit though does have its benefits. With the passing of time, we obviously look at and see things differently, a little more dispassionately, which ultimately helps with selection, editing, presentation, etc.
