White Snowdrop Field

Today’s Pic du Jour, the site’s 1,157th straight, was taken yesterday afternoon in the backyard, near the start of what will be a three to four week carpet of white and purple hues. Right now it’s these white snowdrops, or Galanthus nivalis which will soon give way to field of bright purple crocus.

Spring is nice here.

We had some of those until last night’s unexpected snow covered them up. White Rock BC ain’t supposed to get snow!

Gave up on crocus years ago. If the squirrels didn’t get them, a sudden dry hot windy day did. Maybe should try snowdrops?

Not sure how long they’ve been here or who planted them, but I’m delighted that they did. My ‘backyard’ is essentially a slope; first the snowdrops come in, spreading out wide, followed soon by the crocus. The only ‘rodent’ activity I witnessed last year was a few neighborhood kids rolling down the hill through that sea of purple. 😉
