Arbol de Coral Rojo, Toledo

Or, Red Coral Tree.

Or, A Red Coral Tree, on display in The Primate Cathedral of Saint Mary of Toledo in Toledo, Spain.

It wasn’t noted where it was from, only that it dated from the 18th century. Red, or Precious coral (Corallium rubrum) is mainly found in the Mediterranean so it didn’t travel far. It’s a stunning piece but looked oddly out of place. Uncomfortable. A fish out of water.

Very interesting. And yes, like you say, a fish out of water. But still lovely. I love Toledo, but I missed this place!
