Quito’s Happy Club

They were happy, too, two May Days ago, managing to enjoy a quiet sun-lit block just about midway between the two raucous May Day parade/rally/demonstrations [ pro-government | anti-government ] that took over the center of Quito for several hours on the international workers’ holiday.

Considering the noise and the tens of thousands that converged on the Ecuadorean capital’s centro historico, this truly was a little urban oasis. And they had almost the entire street all to themselves.

If you have the day off tomorrow or are otherwise celebrating, here’s hoping you find your own Happy Club.

For the record: today’s Pic du Jour, the blog’s 1,214th straight, was snapped on 1 May 2015.

Note to email subscribers: apologies for the emails on top of each other. My current theme and the WordPress scheduling option don’t cooperate all the time, leaving posts, well, unposted. Thanks for your understanding. 🙂
