There’s probably a joke here somewhere — “So Cleopatra, Oedipus, Achilles and Antigone walk onto a rooftop…” — but I’m too tired and unfamiliar with their stories to come up with one. Any takers?
This quarter is waving from atop the Golden House, in Gdansk, considered the most stately building in the northern Polish city. According to at least one source, it’s haunted by the ghost of Judyta Speymann, the wife of Jan Speymann, who was the city’s mayor in the first decades of the 17th century.
