25 Minutes in Rabat’s Hay Riad District

From a brief stroll earlier this evening in the Hay Riad District of central Rabat, the Moroccan capital.

The neighborhood, created in the 1970s, is home to several government ministries, high end retailers and trendy restaurants, and considered as one of the most luxurious districts of the capital. The high point of view shots, above and below, were taken from The View, a high end hotel that opened seven months ago.

Much of my immediate surroundings, as seen from the lobby of The View, didn’t exist when I first visited Rabat six years ago. I hope to have a bit more time tomorrow to explore and compare notes. In case you missed or are genuinely curious, here’s an account of that 2011 visit, just as the Arab Spring was winding down.
