Vendor Taking a Break, Teustepe, Nicaragua

A young vendor takes a break for a couple innings during a baseball game in the municipal stadium in Teustepe, Nicaragua, about an hour-and-a-half east of the capital Managua.

Today, locals, at least some, will be celebrating the 38th anniversary of the Sandinista Revolution in the Central American nation which toppled the brutal US-backed Somoza dynasty that ruled the country since the early 1930s. I’ll be raising a glass, too.

In case you missed it, here’s a gallery of images taken in Nicaragua between 1990 and 1999.

Today’s Pic du Jour, the site’s 1,293rd straight, was snapped in Teustepe, Nicaragua, in April 1994.

  1. Not sure if it’s slow internet in Mindo or if the ‘previous’ and ‘next’ options need a tweak… I opened three or four posts, and there was an option for ‘next’ but it went nowhere.. the ‘previous’ was in subtle print, which would not respond. This particular page has no ‘next/previous’ available…

Again, it might be the slow internet here….

I liked that curious cow! Moo Moo!
