I hadn’t tried a west coast US Pinot Gris in years; I was looking for some points of reference to compare with those from Slovenia and northeast Italy, and this La Crema Pinot Gris jumped off the menu and onto my table at the push of a few buttons during a brief one-hour transit lunch in Newark. As such, it will always be remembered as the first wine I tried on the ground in the USA during the Trump years. To the kind folks at La Crema, my sincerest apologies for that association.
Fruity! Nectarines and yellow apple aromas, apple and pear on the palate an a slight hint of mint on the finish. Lively, fresh, nice. I’m very glad I picked this one. (Again, to winemaker Craig McAllister, my apologies for the association. At least this will be remembered long after he departs from the scene.)
