Wine Links for May 04, 2018

What I’ve been reading this week – and other links, notes, bookmarks and briefs.

I’ve been in the Qatari capital Doha most of this week where I’m not drinking wine. I have managed to read about it a bit, though. A few items for the bookmark files…

Minerality. A very brief 101 on ‘rocky’ tastes in wine.

Romania – A two-part introductory look at Romanian wines and wineries by Peter Ranscombe for Scottish Field.

VinItaly aftermath. Talk about a social media overdose. Did anyone else tire of VinItaly taking over their social platforms?  Anyway, a report, Improved Quality and Buyer Attendance, via The Indian Wine Academy.

Pairing wine and berries – A timely and useful pairing guide from Wine & Spirits. We’ll be surrounded by them soon.

Oak – A good primer on the variety of oak used today, where it’s from and what it does. Wine Barrel Crash-Course: 10 Types of Oak Winemakers Love in Food & Wine.
